Fixed-Term Senior Lawyer (Environment) – Accelerated
Land and Property Disposals Programme

Grade 13 £37,890 to £39,880

 
Bury Council is looking for a qualified solicitor, barrister or Ilex Fellow to join its Lexcel Accredited Legal Services Team within the Council’s Environment Legal Team, to assist in undertaking the effective execution of legal work with its emphasis on land and property issues. The focus of the role will be to support all legal matters arising out of the Council’s corporate Accelerated Land and Property Disposals Programme. This programme will see Bury Council dispose of its land and property assets that are surplus to need and in turn, will need a dedicated legal resource to undertake the increased levels of property transactions. Your hours of work will 37 hours per week.

 

The contract will initially be for a two-year fixed-term period and will include a review at the end of the period with potential to extend it.  You will work alongside a programme manager and officers in the Council’s Property & Asset Management team who are responsible for the corporate programme but will be accountable to the Team Leader (Environment) within Legal Services.

 

You should have substantial current and comprehensive knowledge and experience of development and property transactions, related highways and planning law and be able to demonstrate an ability to advise generally on matters connected therewith.  Previous experience of advising in Committee and knowledge of local authority governance would also be an advantage. 

 

Appointment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
