The Head Teacher and Governors of Mersey Drive Community Primary School are looking to appoint a flexible, creative and enthusiastic HLTA to support teaching and learning across each phase of school. Responsibilities will include covering teachers’ PPA, supply cover and intervention work with targeted groups.  

 

The hours of work are 34 per week, term time only plus 5 days during periods of school closure.

 

The salary for this post is £19,526 to £21,683 per annum.

 

This post is temporary for 1 year subject to a review of the school budget.

 

The Governing Body wish to appoint someone who is able to:

  • Work across school and be pro-active, enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated
  • Complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning programmes and support to individual pupils and small groups
  • Take responsibility for the management and development of a specialist area in school, and/ or leading and deploying teaching assistants in addressing the needs of pupils who require help to overcome barriers to learning
  • Work in collaboration with teaching colleagues to co-ordinate and plan schemes of work to be used by teaching assistants undertaking specified teaching work
  • Line management, supervision of support staff, including implementation of Appraisal procedures
  • Have excellent communication skills and be able to work positively with children, parents and staff.
