Elms Bank is an outstanding generic secondary special school for pupils aged 11-19. The Governors are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic full-time pastoral support worker responsible for Extended Services who can join a team of professionals working with a range of complex needs including profound and multiple learning difficulties and autism. Experience of working in an education setting with pupils with special educational needs is essential. We are looking for outstanding colleagues who will demonstrate a high level of commitment to these special young people.
The hours of work are 36 hours 15 minutes per week term time plus 5 professional activity days plus 20 additional days worked during periods of school holidays, (Easter – 3 days for 1 week and Summer 3 days per week for 4 weeks). The working hours are Monday to Thursday 8.45am – 4.45pm and Friday 8.45am – 3.30pm.
The salary for this post is £22,229 to £24,654 per annum.

You will:
- Be passionate and committed to develop the best in young people
- Have experience of maintaining and establishing accurate records and implementing strategies to improve standards of student attendance, punctuality and behaviour
- Have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and be a team player
- Be willing to train to deliver group work with parents/students and be involved in pastoral activities
- Be committed to demonstrating a responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
- Manage the schools’ Extended Services package in the form of activities after school and during school holidays
- Promote activities with pupils and engage the pupils and their families of Elms Bank to ensure access is available for all pupils to the activities provided
This post would be suitable for a person with experience of working with vulnerable young people in an education setting. You will be part of an excellent team and will be given extensive support to develop to your full potential both in this role and beyond.
