Passenger Assistants

The School and College Transport Team have a number of permanent vacancies for a Passenger Assistant to work escorting pupils with special educational needs from home to school. You will be required to work a split day, travelling on the morning and afternoon journey. The pay is £7.97 to £8.19 per hour.

 

Hours of work vary but typically average 10 hours per week, term time only, worked in accordance with service requirements.

 

There are currently permanent vacancies, Monday to Friday, with children travelling to:

 

·        Elms Bank Specialist Arts College
·        Astley Park School (Chorley)

·        Thomasson Memorial School (Bolton)
·        Hollingwood Academy (Failsworth)

 

You will be responsible for the care and welfare of the pupils travelling, ensuring that they reach their destination safely. To help you achieve this, you will be expected to attend all appropriate training as and when required.

 

You will be expected to meet the vehicle at a collection point that will not be your home address, the vacancies listed above currently have a Bury Centre or Radcliffe meeting point.

Appointment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service.

 

In order to support budget reductions in Local Government, the Council looked at many ways to reduce spending that minimised the need to reduce employee numbers or impact on services. All employees up to and including the Chief Executive are required to take an additional 3 days (unpaid) annual leave. This can be taken at any time during the leave year. The cost of these additional days is spread over 12 months or pro rata to your start date.
