Based in Bury Town Centre, the Children, Young People and Culture HR Team (CYPaC HR) is a dedicated team of 19 professionals providing schools and services with information, advice and guidance of the highest quality.

 

Our widely experienced team offers a service that is designed to provide specialist HR functions and support to managers, Head Teachers and governors with respect to their employment responsibilities.

 

Reporting to the Head of HR and Senior HR Team Leader/Consultants you will provide a full range of HR services across the Department, with a particular focus on schools, ensuring appropriate and timely advice and guidance is issued. 

 

You will advise, interpret and implement Conditions of Service, Council policies and procedures in accordance with Employment Law. 

 

The hours of work are 37 hours per week, flexitime scheme, some evening work may be required occasionally worked in accordance with service requirements. The salary for this post is £20,901 - £22,921 per annum.

The Person

 

Essential:·         Part qualified or willing to work towards a relevant HR related qualification

·         Understanding of the work of the Children, Young People and Culture Department

·         Experience in providing advice in a busy HR team

·         Knowledge of employment law

·         An understanding of pay and conditions for schools based staff

·         Customer care and communication skills

·         Experience of using MS Office packages

 

Desirable:·         Experience of providing HR advice to schools

·         Experience of undertaking HR casework

·         Experience of providing advice on and participating in recruitment processes

 

Employees of Bury Council have a responsibility for, and must be committed to, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and for ensuring that they are protected from harm.

 

In order to support budget reductions in Local Government, the Council looked at many ways to reduce spending that minimised the need to reduce employee numbers or impact on services. All employees up to and including the Chief Executive are required to take an additional 3 days (unpaid) annual leave. This can be taken at any time during the leave year. The cost of these additional days is spread over 12 months or pro rata to your start date.
