The Headteacher and Governors of Old Hall Primary School are seeking to appoint a highly effective 1:1 Support Assistant for a Year 1 pupil with additional needs.

 

The essentials for the role are:

·         A clear understanding of additional needs and how best to support higher attaining children with a 
          physical disability.

·         The ability to carry out a programme of physiotherapy.

·         Experience of working with a child with a visual impairment.

·         Prepared to undertake intimate personal care, e.g. getting dressed for P.E., using the toilet.

·         To be proactive in ensuring that the learning needs of the child are met and enabling them to access 
          all areas of the curriculum, including the timely preparation of all necessary resources.

·         The skills necessary to lead small intervention groups that include the designated child.

·         The willingness and flexibility to work co-operatively as a member of a team led by the class teacher.

·         To liaise effectively with teachers, SENCO and other professionals about individual learning needs and 
          to contribute to the plan for meeting these needs.

·         To assist the class teacher and SENCO with providing supportive evidence for the EHC Plan annual 
          review.

·         To communicate effectively with parents on a daily basis.

·         To maintain the health, safety and well-being of the child at all times.

The post is temporary whilst the child remains at the school and their special needs remain the same.

 

The salary for this post is Grade 6 £12,515 per annum.

Appointment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
