Post Title: Visitor Assistant

Team: Art Gallery

 

We are looking for a Visitor Assistant to join our Visitor Services team. The successful candidate will be passionate about the arts and heritage and committed to providing a high standard of customer care and delivering a high-quality visitor experience.

 

You will join an innovative team of Visitor Assistants who are responsible for engaging with visitors and providing access to the collections and the exhibition programme. The main duties include assisting all visitors to the Art Gallery, Museum & Sculpture Centre enhancing their experience and creating a positive impression of the service through excellent customer care, providing security for the collections and exhibitions, manning the Gallery shop, delivery of talks, workshops and public events, promotion of the service and assisting the curatorial team with the installation of exhibitions.

 

The role requires someone with experience of delivering a high standard of customer care in a frontline role, experience of delivering talks and workshops to a range of groups, enthusiasm for and an interest in art and/or history is vital for this role.


You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and flexibly as part of a small, dedicated team.

 

We will support your professional development with formal and informal supervision and provide opportunities to learn and develop skills on the job working closely with the wider operational management team.

 

Normal hours of work are 23 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.

Work pattern is Tuesday 12pm-5pm, Thursday 10am-5pm, Friday 9am-2.30pm and Saturday 10am-4.30pm.

 

The salary is Grade 6 £12,459 per annum plus a matrix payment for weekend working.
