Bury Council requires an Education Welfare Officer to provide educational liaison and support to the Virtual School, providing educational support for Children and Young people in Care (CYPIC).

 

The hours of work are 37 per week, worked in accordance with service requirements, term time only.

 

The salary for this post is £23,852 - £26,076 per annum.

 

The post is temporary until April 2020, subject to a restructure.

 

The role of an Education Welfare Officer involves working with a number of schools and other educational settings, developing effective professional relationships and providing specialist advice and interventions to support attendance and educational engagement.

 

This role will involve working directly within the team, seeking specific information from schools, analysing complex information and advising other professionals in regard to educational options and engagement. As the educational link for CYPIC, the post holder will have significant experience working with schools, ideally within a pastoral role and have up to date knowledge of the potential barriers facing children, especially those within the care system, to accessing regular education. You must be able to work to tight deadlines and have good IT skills.
