We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Senior Applications Engineer who is keen to promote modernisation within Bury Council in line with our strategic and corporate priorities.
You will have a proven track record of developing, implementing and supporting in-house and third party supplied business applications, along with a good grasp of a wide range of technology issues with an information technology related degree and Microsoft Certified SQL DBA Administration (or equivalent).
You’ll work in one of our Software Application teams which are based in the Town Hall in Bury in the ICT Services Section of the Resources and Regulation Department. Reporting to the team leader, you will develop, implement and support in-house and third party applications for all service areas across the council.
You will have the ability to deal with customers at all levels and must be able to demonstrate your commitment to customer care.
Good communication skills both verbally and in writing are essential.
We have standardised on Microsoft platforms with applications running on various Windows operating systems so you will need to have a thorough understanding of this environment.
Broad experience of Visual Studio (vb, vb.net syntax), Microsoft SQL Server, Windows operating systems and a computing related degree is essential. Knowledge of council systems (e.g. APP, Confirm) is desirable.

Hours of work are 37 per week Monday to Friday.
The successful candidate will be appointed at Grade 11 (annual salary £30,503 to £31,968) depending on qualifications and experience.
