Economy Business Engagement Officer
Economic Development

Inclusive economic growth is a key priority for Bury Council.  Working within the Strategic Planning and Economic Development Team of the Department for Business, Growth, and Infrastructure you will be at the centre of building relationships to ensure the residents and business communities of the borough benefit from economic growth.  We are looking for someone who can make an immediate impact within the team in the role of Economy and Business Engagement Officer.

This post offers the opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills and experience to progress and develop an exciting and rewarding career in economic development.  You will work with colleagues across connected areas including skills, employment, health and wellbeing, and policy development to support businesses across the borough and inward investors.

You will work across a range of partnerships:

  • Regional and city-region groups
  • Employment and skills groups
  • National and regional business support
  • Bury Business Leadership Group
  • Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce
  • Local business networks

The work is varied, fast paced and constantly evolving.  So if you like to connect organisations together for the benefit of communities, place and businesses, this could be the role for you.

Experience of Economic Development is not essential but you will need good information technology skills, the ability to undertake research and analysis and produce high-quality written reports. You will need to be educated to degree level, or have work experience to a similar standard.

Attendance at early morning and evening meetings will be required, so you'll need to be flexible and committed to working outside normal office hours.

Normal hours of work are 37 per week Monday to Friday and an extended flexi-time scheme is in operation. The post is Grade 10 with a salary of £27,133 to £29,663 per annum.
