A Community Cohesion Officer is required to join the Community Safety Team based at Bury Town Hall.

 

This uniquely varied and interesting role sits at the forefront of the Council’s bid to engage with the communities across Bury to reduce Hate Crime and prevent the growth of Extremism in the borough.

 

It is a multi-faceted role that involves undertaking case work, contributing to strategy, developing and delivering training and liaising with colleagues across Greater Manchester to develop a consistent approach to Community Cohesion.

 

If you enjoy regularly interacting with a cross-section of people from school pupils to community leaders to senior figures in the authority and other partner agencies then this role will offer you the opportunity to enhance those skills.

This position will suit someone with experience of developing relationships both with members of the public and colleagues/partners at all levels. The post also requires the highest degree of political and equality sensitivity, excellent negotiation skills as well as the ability to produce high standards of written work with the capability to analyse and present data as evidence for strategic plans.

 

The hours of work are 37 per week and the salary for this post will be £23,206 - £25,738 per annum

In order to support budget reductions in Local Government, the Council looked at many ways to reduce spending that minimised the need to reduce employee numbers or impact on services. All employees up to and including the Chief Executive are required to take an additional 3 days (unpaid) annual leave. This can be taken at any time during the leave year. The cost of these additional days is spread over 12 months or pro rata to your start date
